LeAndrea Mikell
Executive Director for Governmental Relations, Economic Development, and Community Engagement at Savannah State University
LeAndrea Mikell serves as the Executive Director for Governmental Relations, Economic Development, and Community Engagement at Savannah State University. In this role, she spearheads the university’s governmental affairs strategy and cultivates strategic partnerships to enhance its economic development and community engagement initiatives.
An active leader in the community, LeAndrea serves on the boards of several organizations, including Leadership Savannah, Employability, Chatham Savannah Citizens Advocacy, Future Minds Literacy and Adult Education, and Union Mission. Notably, she was the first African American to serve as President of the Georgia Jaycees.
Mikell has been recognized as the Ambassador of the Year by the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce in 2017, honored as a GenerationNEXT Rising Star of Business in 2018 by Business in Savannah/Savannah Morning News, and awarded Jaycee of the Year by the Georgia Jaycees in 2020. Additionally, she was featured as a member of the New Guard by Savannah Magazine in 2021 and included in Georgia Trend’s Top 40 Under 40 list in 2022. She is also a proud graduate of Leadership Savannah (Class of 2021) and Leadership Georgia (Class of 2023).
LeAndrea is a firm believer in the transformative power of education and is dedicated to empowering students to become leaders in their fields and communities. Her vision is to foster a more equitable society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
In her free time, LeAndrea enjoys exploring new restaurants, volunteering in her community, and cherishing moments with her family.
